SRMC, Belarus was founded in 1999 by a group of young economists and political scientists as an independent research branch of the Analytical Center ‘Strategy’, the leading Belarusian think-tank.
The SRMC mission is to:
- advance ideas and ideals of free market democratic society based on individual choice and personal responsibility
- create an open community of people sharing these ideas
- promote the ideas of limited government, individual liberty and private property in public policy debate
- combine the efforts of progressive Byelorussians to ensure stable, safe and consistent development of the Belarusian society towards freedom and democracy in the family of like-minded countries
The special attention SRMC focuses on the following research topics:
- business cycle theories
- externalities problems
- economic growth policies
- methodology of economic analysis
Other SRMC activities are as follows:
- teaching various aspects of economic policies and modern theories in the frame of “Economic salon” sessions
- enhancing public and research libraries with modern scientific literature in English
- regular lectures on the topic ‘Foundations of Capitalism’ in the Belarusian universities
- publication program – working papers and articles – on various issues of systemic transformation of economy
- seminars and summer schools for postgraduate students and teachers
