This reseach centre explores issues in sexual and reproductive health, particularly prioritising HIV prevention and the reproductive health/HIV interface. It hosts programmes dealing with contraception, maternal health, STIs, HIV and microbicides, youth initiatives, and regional development. The organisation works in collaboration with the WHO, and in 2004 was involved in over 40 research and training programmes, all with national and/or international links. The organisation collaborates with local organisations and the South African Department of Health, and is supported by USAID and DFID, as well as a variety of other grant-making and academic institutions.
