The book is generally restricted to the years 1980, 1990 and all available subsequent years. However, indicators are available for the additional years in the 1980s on the CD-ROM and Internet version. The 2001 edition contains estimates for the year 2000 for many economies, although for others the most recent information available is for 1999.
The 2001-2002 issue includes separate chapter to identify issues relating to the comparative functioning of men and women in the labour force as revealed in the analysis of the indicators
