The work of the IDS Globalisation Team illuminates these issues by exploring:
- how global processes work
- who gains and who loses from global processes
- what policy instruments are available to provide for an outcome which is more equitable, which provides for sustainable growth and which do not harm the environment
The team’s mode of research is, wherever possible, to work closely with a range of stakeholders – governments (central and local), aid agencies, multilateral agencies, the private sector and NGOs – to facilitate processes in which rigorous research is effectively translated into implemented policy. This research programme involves close cooperation with other researchers both in high- and low-income countries. The integrating theme of our research is “Spreading the Gains from Globalisation”
