Amanitare is the African Partnership for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) of women and girls. The partnership was launched in 1999 and is a ten-year initiative of RAINBO (Research Action and Information Network for the Bodily Integrity of Women).Amanitare strives to:
- provide the organizational structure for the exchange of technical skills, leadership training and institutional capacity building
- facilitate information exchange and generation on issues surrounding sexual and reproductive health and rights in Africa
- create platforms for communication and discussion among the Partners and with other groups and networks at the local national, regional and international levels
- help develop user-friendly information around issues of sexual and reproductive health and rights of women in Africa
- promote and strengthen the active participation of partner NGOs in the policy and decision making process of the Organization of African Unity (OAU)/African Union and other regional and sub-regional institutions
- forge linkages between Partners and other professional associations and institutions working on issues of sexuality, health services and human rights
- promote a youth agenda
