The YCSG attempts to examine the impact of globalisation in order to find practical policies to enable the poor to share in the benefits brought by globalisation. The Center generates and supports policy relevant research and analysis related to globalisation core issues including:

  • global governance for peace and security
  • international cooperation for development
  • strengthening the multilateral trading system
  • protecting shared environmental resources
  • global health issues
  • extracting lessons from national or regional experiences.

An important project of the YSCG is “Global Trade and Financial Architecture” (GTA) aiming at identifying and analysing options for making the multilateral trading system more supportive of development. It builds on the Doha negotiations and the need for new approaches on special and differential treatment of developing countries in the WTO.

The Center organises a variety of activities to explore globalisation and promote the flow of ideas such as lectures, conferences, workshops, roundtable discussions. The research papers, policy briefs and other related publications of the GTA and of the YCSG can be downloaded from the site.
