The World Vegetable Center (AVRDC) is an international centre for vegetable research and development in the world. Its mission is to reduce poverty and malnutrition in developing countries through improved production and consumption of vegetables. The Center’s strategy is to build partnerships and mobilise resources from private and public sectors to promote vegetable production and consumption in the developing world.

Research at AVRDC is targetted at:

  • increased productivity of the vegetable sector
  • equity in economic development in favor of rural and urban poor
  • healthy and more diversified diets for low-income families
  • environmentally friendly and safe production of vegetables
  • improved sustainability of cropping systems.
