TENMIYA (centre for innovations for development) is a non-governmental organisation created by a group of engineers working in the field of development. Its principal goals are:
- initiate and implement projects focused on technical, economic and social innovation appropriate to the Mauritanian context
- exchange experiences (on development issues) between NGOs in developing and developed countries.
- be an open centre for development practitioners, students and researchers who want to work on themes pertaining to supporting grassroots development initiatives
- make local development support structures sustainable after projects are brought to a close
- gather, structure and disseminate information (database, network moderation).
TENMIYA is active in rural and urban areas on the following themes: water (village hydraulics, sanitation, water treatment); energy (wind and solar renewable energies); small business support (technical support, credit); agro-economic collective group support; housing and urbanism.
