R.Cade is an interdisciplinary resource centre that will help researchers and analysts to identify and acquire data for the European Social Sciences. Based at the Centre for European Studies at the University of Durham. Funding was awarded for an initial five years, starting in January 1995, by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

(a) selection of Eurostat data: many down to NUTS 3 in geographical resolution. Themes include: REGIO,(Regional economic statistics); Eurostatus (main economic indicators); Eurostatistics (economic and social indicators); SEC1, SEC2, TRIM (National accounts, goods and services, consumption trade: PACE (Employment and unemployment); Demo (Demography), LACOSTS (Labour costs); SOCPROT (Social protection); LINDA (Main industrial indices) ( communications, infrastructure, financial services etc.); TOUR (Tourism); TRAINS ( carriage of goods); ZRD2 (Research and development).
(b) ILO labour data: the “Laborsta” database including data by country on: hours of work. employment, unemployment, labour costs, consumer prices, industrial relations. economic activity. This data is used to compile the ILO Statistical Yearbooks
(c) UNESCO: primary, secondary and higher education statistics by country (including expenditure data). Population statistics and projections.(education by level and expendidures)
(d) ENVSTAT (European environmental statistics): when released.
