PPRCenter is a non-government organization created under the initiative of the Open Society Institute (Budapest) in December 2001. Its primary aim is to assist in finding an effective solution to public issues by providing an organized, analytical program for public discussion of the issues concerning government policy in individual spheres of influence.

In order to accomplish its mission the Center has set the following goals in order to accomplish its mission:

  • to assist in introducing concepts and procedures for public policy in Kazakhstan
  • to conduct independent surveys
  • to work out alternative solutions to existing problems by organizing public forums
  • to assist in creating a socio-political environment in Kazakhstan, favorable to democratic reforms
  • to create a training center to become a source of reference on issues of public policy in Kazakhstan and Central Asia

PPRC activities embrace the following areas:

  • socio-economic policy
  • decentralization of government authority and development of local self- governance
  • educational policy
  • publishing materials
  • promoting public awareness of social issues, techniques and strategies of analysis for government policy

The website in Russian, Kazakh and English currently contains information on the PPRC activities, publications (very soon should be available archive in electronic form), and links to the main partner organizations.
