Non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation established in 1998, promoting its vision on social policies and their role in Albania. The Center aims to:

  • promote the production of data on social indicators, improving the quality and scope of information concerning social policies and improving the existing human capacities dealing with social policy and implementation issues
  • encourage the development of social services form public and non-public institutions, providing pilot models all over Albania
  • raise the awareness about critical issues of social policies, transforming the discussions in public debate.

The Center carries out programs in:

  • social studies

  • post-university higher education training, offered through the project of Balkan summer school
  • social services, for example supporting social service centers and information centers in various municipalities
  • qualification and training through offering courses such as: Social service for the poor; Strengthening the co-operation between local government and community; Social exclusion and public service.

Social studies areas in the past have included:

  • Labor Market in Tirana for the housemaid profession

  • Socially excluded groups in Peshkopi Municipality
  • Social needs of children during their free time in Kruja Municipality
  • The assessment of economic and social outcomes of controlled and uncontrolled migration toward Tirana district
  • Assessment of economic and social conditions of districts in Albania
  • Social and Economic needs of children who do not attend school on a regular basis or those who drop out
  • Assessment of needs for information and social services in Tirana municipality.
