The Liberty Institute promotes awareness of the four institutional pillars of a free society — individual rights, the rule of law, limited government, and free markets. The Institute seeks to improve an understanding of market processes; to identify the factors that may have restricted the evolution of the market and ways of overcoming those factors; to estimate the costs – social and economic – of curbs on the market forces; to propose market-based alternatives to government regulations in the economy and increasinly in new areas such as social policy, health and safety regulations, and environmental regulations.

The Institute concentrates its research on the following areas:

  • climate change and the environment
  • education
  • market forces in India
  • development

The website of the Institute provides information about the structure of the organisation, events and activities sponsored by the Institute, policy reports, resources, and information about the Julian Simon Centre. The website also contains a number of publications available for downloading.
