INION was set up in 1969 with the purpose of collecting all available information on social sciences. All the material is stored in the library in paper copies, some recent versions can be available in electronic form on CD- ROMS.
The Institute also produces a series of working papers, analytical reports and bibliography on a wide range of social science topics. Since 1992 it has been taking part in joint European projects aimed at developing a wider network of social research organizations.
