Institute for Policy Research and Development (IPRAD) is a non profit organisation established in 1995, composed of economists, managment experts, engineers, social and political scientists and lawyers. The specific objectives of the organisation are:

  • to undertake research on economic, social, management, institutional, legal and environmental issues
  • to conduct training and workshop in areas which directly enhance the skills and awareness of low income and disadvantaged groups
  • to evolve and draw up policy alternatives for ensuring sustainable devlopemnt processs.

Research to date has included projects on:

  • women in development
  • the implications of value added tax on the Nepales economy
  • implementation of full convertibility of the Nepalese Rupee in the capital account
  • assessment of the effectiveness of on-going local level programs
  • evaluation of impact of renewable energy programme on the poor people and number of feasibility/baseline studies for community development.
