Independent, pan-African, public interest organisation (PIO) founded in 1992. Aims to promote self-reliant and open societies in Africa. Activities include facilitating networks of non-governmental organisations and running NitNet (http://www.nitnet.sn), a portal for Senegalese human rights organisations. Programme areas include:

- civil society involvement in electoral processes in Africa
- community development
- democracy and human rights development.
