The EU-LDC Network was set up motivated by the recognition of the increasing importance of economic relations and co-operation between the European Union, its member states (EU) and less developed countries (LDC). Reflecting the pressing concerns raised by ‘Fortress Europe’, the Network seeks to provide a medium for the exchange of information and analysis of trade and capital policies and their implications for relations between Europe and developing countries. It covers the following topics:
- WTO
- Regional Integration
- Development co-operation
- Social, Environmental and welfare aspects of trade
- Enterprise development
- EU enlargement
- International capital markets
The key objective of the Network is to promote the development of economic co-operation, based on justice and equality and orientated towards achieving sustainable economic growth and combating poverty. Activities of the Network include: Information exchange, publications, discussion fora conferences, research and analysis.
