SAHIMS aims to improve and widen humanitarian knowledge and information sharing in southern Africa for a coordinated disaster response. SAHIMS serves humanitarian clients through the provision of understanding and quality information products. As an integral part of the regional disaster response capacity, SAHIMS promotes and facilitates data sharing as well as ensuring the maintenance of a helpdesk based on well networked existing partners. SAHIMS is a project of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

WWW includes a document centre, archives of news stories as well as updates, training initiatives, country windows for Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe, GIS data for these countries as well as Botswana, Madagascar and Namibia, a helpdesk, the UN RIACSO Bulletins (Southern African Humanitarian Crisis Update), links, and thematic coverage on HIV/AIDS, malaria, migration and water.
