The Panos Institute exists to stimulate debate on global development and environment issues. Panos also carries out a range of AIDS-related activities in Southern Africa, South Asia and Haiti, in partnership with respected non-governmental organisations and independent media. Panos’ AIDS work currently focuses on two themes:
- the difficulties of providing appropriate treatment for HIV/AIDS in the developing world
- the pivotal role played by men and masculinity in the epidemic
Through publications, seminars, workshops and other activities, directed at the media, policymakers and non-governmental organisations, Panos stimulates debate and further research at a national and international level, leading to the development of appropriate strategies to confront these issues.
