The Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka is an autonomous, national institution for research into economic policy. Closely linked to the policy-making establishment, it promotes policy-oriented economic research and helps strengthen the country’s capacity for medium-term policy analysis.

During 2001-3, IPS research effort will be further strengthened by forming five research units to focus research in key areas, such as international economics, macroeconomics, and health policy. The IPS Health Policy Programme is the first of these units to be established.
