Drylands Research writes and co-ordinates policy-related research on rural livelihoods and environmental management in semi-arid tropical countries. The method used is that of analysing long-term change in economic and environmental decision-making by small farmers and livestock producers, and setting these in the context of population growth, climate change, migration and income diversification.
Drylands Research collaborates with teams of experienced national scientists in the countries concerned, who bring a range of inter-disciplinary expertise to the challenge of identifying those policies which support productive investments and sustainable use of natural and other resources.
