The Collective for Research and Training on Development-Action (CRTD-A) is a non-governmental implementing and consultancy organisation based in Beirut. It works in Lebanon and across the Arab World, primarily in Yemen, Egypt, Syria, Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria. CRTD-A seeks to contribute to the social development of local communities and organizations through enhancing their capacity to address the needs of their constituency, and through raising awareness on gender, development, poverty and exclusion.

CRTD-A works with partners at both local and international levels in order to share best practices, support capacity building and promote policy advocacy on cross-cutting and national issues that face the region. CRTD-A also supports them to make the most effective and efficient use of donor aid and financial resources.

The organisation also provides technical support and training to NGOs, governmental partners, researchers, and international agencies; services cover efficient and effective resource mobilization, strategic planning, project/program management, counseling, and project/program monitoring and evaluation, and training modules and resource kits.

CRTD-A runs a resource information centre, which provides indigenous and international information and research on Gender and Development issues, Lebanon, and the Arab World.

The website provides links to the organisation’s two main projects:

  • The Machreq/Maghreb Gender Linking and Information Project (MACMAG GLIP), which provides a platform for exchange of information and training on Gender and Development (GAD) throughout the Arab world, and includes the Gender Resource Library, which has resources available in hard copy and online (http://www.macmag-glip.org/)
  • The NGO Independent Resources and Information Services (IRIS of Lebanon), which provides a monthly bulletin, interactive website, training workshops and action-oriented research to engage government agencies, NGOs and international organizations on issues of poverty and social developments in Lebanon. IRIS also houses an NGOs and Social Development Library (http://www.iris-lebanon.org/)

The site also provides links to the Youth Leadership Website (http://crtd.org/youth/) and the Lebanon Development Gateway (http://home.developmentgateway.org/).
