The School of Development Studies (SDS), University of Melbourne Private, attempts to bring together the study and practice of development assistance. Delivery of projects for bilateral and multilateral agencies and governments of developing countries is coupled with the study and research of development through courses and publications. The School draws together practitioners and academics who use their interaction to work towards the advancement of knowledge and the improvement of practice.

The division’s current profile covers a range of activities including:

  • developing and brokering institutional partnerships and alliances
  • institutional twinning and international linkages
  • sourcing, contracting and managing consultants & specialists
  • tracking and conceptualising development opportunities
  • identification, pre-feasibility & feasibility, design and appraisal studies
  • training, training needs analysis, Training-of-Trainers, accreditation of training
  • project implementation, management and administration including logistical support
  • monitoring systems, reviews, audits and evaluations of project implementation
