The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) is the technical government agency responsible for the coordination and supervision of all public statistical activities taking place in the Argentine territory. INDEC is also responsible for the production of relevant public statistics and to ensure reliability and comparability of data obtained from many different sources and jurisdictions. INDEC has direct responsibility for:
- methodological design, organization and supervision of all Federal survey and census operations
- elaboration and compilation of basic social and economic indicators
- production of other basic statistical information
The website, which is only available in Spanish, contains data on the economy of Argentina as well as a number of downloadable studies on issues of interest to the country. More particularly, it contains an on-line statistical yearbook of Argentina which explores short-term indicators such as prices, monthly industrial surveys and foreign trade.
