IPE was established in 1964 as a non-profit autonomous institution for policy studies on public enterprises and public systems. It has developed as a centre for policy studies, management education, training, management development programmes, information technology, biotechnology and consultancy. IPE has an active research environment with core competence gained from three decades of extensive research work on public enterprises. Special expertise built at the Institute, and current areas of focus are Public Enterprises, Public Systems, Corporate Management, Biotechnology, and Information Technology. IPE receives support from the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
