The GJSS is a co-operative project lead by post-graduate students in the Netherlands and United Kingdom.
Its institutional bases are the London School of Economics and the Free University of Amsterdam. It began in 2002 when a number of research students recognised the lack of a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas on issues of interdisciplinary methodology in the social sciences.
GJSS believe interdisciplinary exchange is the way forward in the social sciences and that a broader dialogue on these issues should be encouraged, given the very different research traditions characterising contemporary research
