DRT is a Ugandan Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO). It was established in 1996 by a team of Community Development Practitioners with experience in community development and the use of participatory research and training methods, with an overall objective of addressing poverty through institutional development, participatory research, analysis and policy influencing.
A key strategy is the strengthening of the national and local level civil society organisations to undertake participatory research, analysis and policy advocacy. The organization aims to:
- Identify gaps in local, national and regional policy and carry out research with communities aimed at filling those gaps
- Promote national dialogue, understanding and cooperation for social and economic development that furthers the well-being of all peoples and enhances equity and social justice.
- Advance the processes of social and economic development through research, training, discussion and publication.
- Provide technical back up and methodological support to organizations involved in the implementation of community development projects.
- Offer training and support to NGO’s, CBO’s and other organizations and agencies with a view to enhancing their skills in policy analysis and advocacy.
- Provide support and services for any other organizations, which facilitate the foregoing.
