The Centre for Policy Studies is an independent policy research institution with a mission to produce research on South Africa, and the rest of Africa’s policy, governance and democratisation challenges. Research programmes include

CPS is increasingly seeking partnerships and joint projects with similar institutions in other societies, particularly in Africa and other middle-income developing societies. CPS regularly stages conferences and workshops, attended by local and foreign academics, other analysts, and practising politicians, where topical political and social issues are analysed. A publications programme is maintained and comprises research reports, other analytical papers, policy briefings, newsletters, a governance review, books, and book-length volumes of conference proceedings.
