ATSDR’s aim is to “prevent exposure and the adverse human health effects and diminished quality of life associated with exposure to hazardous substances from waste sites, unplanned releases, and other sources of environmental pollution. Maintains a WWW service which includes the full text of the “Hazardous Substances & Public Health” newsletter, and links to toxicological profiles of hazardous substances, USA public health statements about exposure effects, and the HazDat database, which contains information about the release of hazardous substances from Superfund sites or emergency events and their effect on health.
