Equity + Alignment = Impact
Co-sponsored by Overbrook Foundation, Kresge Foundation, C.S. Mott Foundation, Johnson Foundation at Wingspread, Chorus Foundation, Patagonia and EDGE Funders Alliance
The ability of grassroots base-building organizations and large NGOs to effectively build power collaboratively has been a persistent obstacle within the environmental movement, exacerbated by limited philanthropic resources available for organizing. Together with grassroots leaders and big, national green groups the Overbrook Foundation and allied funders are developing a bold new initiative for achieving impact at scale. Join us for a conversation about plans for building greater equity and alignment for greater impact, through this and related initiatives supported by engaged funders. Co-Sponsored by The Johnson Family Foundation; Patagonia, Clif Bar Family Foundation, Unitarian Universalist Veatch Program at Shelter Rock, Solidago Foundation and the Chorus Foundation.

Funders Exploring Transitions to Social and Ecological Transformation
March 2013
Together with the Fondation Charles Léopold Mayer pour le Progrès de l’Homme (FPH) who will be hosting this two day meeting at its agro-ecological retreat center outside Paris, EDGE Funders is convening two dozen grantmakers just before the World Social Forum in Tunis to deepen collective understanding and develop potential collaboration in support of new forces and dynamics working on transitions towards deep societal transformation.
These conversations will continue at the WSF, at our Just Giving Conference in Washington, DC and then at the annual meeting of the European Foundation Centre, in Copenhagen at the end of May.
Funders at the World Social Forum in Tunis
March 2013
EDGE Funders is providing hotel, logistics and program support to grantmakers attending the 2013 World Social Forum in Tunis at the end of March. Tens of thousands of civil society actors from the region and around the world are expected to attend, with discussions ranging from the right to self-determination and for freedom of movement, for a world “free from the war as an instrument of domination;” for democratic institutions and governance models; for building alternatives upon principles of cooperation and financial justice; and for collective reflection on the meaning of new social struggles and on the World Social Forum process itself.
