Who we Are
EDGE Funders Alliance is a global philanthropic network of approximately 120 member foundations and donors from around the world committed to radical transformation of the philanthropic sector. EDGE members agree that the conventional philanthropic landscape must be disrupted by mobilizing resources and power to support grassroots movements that are building radical, systemic alternatives.
Positioned at the nexus of philanthropy and activism, EDGE is a space where funders move beyond traditional roles as supporters to become active organizers in struggles for systemic change. The community is grounded in deep political dialogue, mutual accountability, and a shared commitment to decolonial,anti-capitalist, and anti-patriarchal principles, with members acting as agitators within philanthropy to push the sector towards justice and authentic solidarity with Movements.

EDGE’s membership includes a diverse range of donors from across the globe, from small
family foundations and women’s funds to large private and corporate foundations.
This distinctive composition, combined with ongoing engagement with global justice
Movements, sets EDGE apart from other peer funder networks and strengthens its ability
to organize for long-lasting changes in philanthropy as we know it.
We welcome donors and grantmakers of
all sizes from around the world who
share our mission and values to join us.
Our Mission
EDGE Funders Alliance supports the broader global movement to dismantle extractive funding systems while working to align resources with the priorities and visions of social movements to drive systemic change and justice.
We organize funders globally to foster trust and collaborate with each other, so that they can disrupt the power dynamics inherent in philanthropy and create new systemic and anti-extractive funding practices.
We implement spaces for learning and taking actions by highlighting the voices, visions, and priorities of movement leaders and move towards the goal of systemic change

IN ORDER TO PURSUE OUR MISSION, WE:

Our Values
Political
We challenge power especially that held by funders and funding systems in maintaining the status quo and in reproducing harmful, archaic, extractive funding mechanisms, in order to achieve systemic change and justice.
Community- led
We take the lead from the communities we work with- our members and Movement partners- we center their voices, needs and priorities; and seek to establish reciprocal relationships where possible.
Bold
We are courageous in our unwavering solidarity with and support of global justice Movements, and provide a space for our members to take risks and manage challenges to fund systemic alternatives.
Feminist
We centre care and relationality in all our interactions, challenge the manifestations of white supremacy in our work culture, uphold the voices and diverse perspectives of global movements, oppose colonial and capitalist oppressions, and seek to dismantle hierarchies that perpetuate inequalities and all forms of violence.
