The Palestine Economic Policy Research Institute (MAS) is an independent, non- profit institution. Its main mission is to:
- Support the socio- economic policy making process through relevant applied economic and social policy research
- Identify developmental challenges and enhancing applied research
- Promote participation of civil society institutions in socio- economic policy formulation and decision-making
- Provide technical support to Palestinian National Authority bodies
- Broaden public debate on socio- economic issues
- Disseminate information and enhancing transparency
- Strengthen economic policy research capacity.
Current studies include projects related to trade, food security, public debt, human and social capital, and agricultural competitiveness. MAS also does capacity building and socio-economic monitoring.
The Institute publishes its research studies and disseminates its findings and policy recommendations in the media and through seminars and workshops in its role as a think tank. Two periodicals, the Economic and Social Monitors, provide an assessment of major socio-economic trends and indicators of national performance. MAS houses a large and specialized socio-economic library in Palestine, providing services to the Palestinian research and policy making community.
