The Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER) focuses on education, research and advocacy on labour issues, particularly concerning Pakistan.
PILER has a dedicated research unit which produces research on various sociological, economic, political issues concerning Pakistan and developing countries. Current and past research topics include:
- causative factors of child labour
- structural adjustment and its impact on women
- history of the trade union movement in Pakistan
- political economy of privatisation
- poverty in Pakistan
- agrarian issues
- political economy of the state
- labour migration in Pakistan
- trade
- ILO conventions and Pakistan
In addition to its research unit, PILER is organized into the following units:
- Workers education unit (WEU)
- Centre for women workers (CWW)
- Centre for working children
- Advocacy and networking unit
- Publication and communications unit

The website also contains background information on labour in Pakistan. An Urdu version of the website is being constructed (November 2003).
