Centro de investigación y planificación del medio ambiente or the Center for Environmental Investigation and Planning (CIPMA) engages in inter-disciplinary research and analysis of the inter-relations between development and environment, the formulation and improvement of environmental policy, and environmental management, with emphasis on citizen participation.

CIPMA aims to integrate environmental investigation and planning into economic development and support and contribute to the national dialogue on the formulation of environmental policies.

The main areas of research of CIPMA are:

  • trade and environment
  • business community relations, citizen participation and public-private cooperation
  • environmental policy

CIPMA’s activities also include:

  • organizing seminars and conferences, including the National Scientific Conference on the Environment
  • training, covering the following issues: clean production, pollution prevention, environmental management, business-community relations, environmental economy and environmental conditioning factors external to national production
  • Publications such as the quarterly journal, Ambiente y Desarrollo
