The Institute was established in 1993 with the principal goal to train managers of state-owned and private companies so that they can effectively work in the conditions of market economy.

Today the Institute is taking new directions: development of new training programs (MBA) in management, marketing and finance for private sector and scientific research activities.

Research project conducted by the Center include:

  • Macroeconomic analysis
  • Foreign trade
  • Restructuring and post-restructuring strategies of companies
  • Small business development in Belarus

All the research projects are being run in cooperation with the Center of Social and Economic Research Foundation (CASE), Poland and supported by Open Society Institute.

The Center regularly issues a number of publications:

  • Quarterly economic journal “Ecowest”
  • Series of working and discussion papers
  • Quarterly bulletin “Belarusian Economic outlook: Trends, Analysis, Forecasts”

It also conducts international and regional conferences, seminars, round tables and workshops on different economic issues.

The website in English and Russian contains all the information on the Institute’s teaching and research activities, downloadable versions of analytical publication on economic issues, periodical editions and abstracts from academic books and journals. It also offers a modest database on main economic indicators of Belarus and other transitional countries
