The South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) is a new network that seeks to use economic tools and analyses to address some of South Asia’s environmental challenges. SANDEE is based on the premise that the joint field of environment and development economics offers a useful framework for analyzing the growth-poverty-environmental change nexus.

SANDEE’s primary objectives are to:

  • Strengthen the ability of researchers in South Asia to undertake multi-disciplinary research on environmental and natural resource problems in their countries
  • Support the growth of rigorous policy-relevant literature on economic development, poverty reduction, and its links to environmental change
  • Facilitate the development of environment and natural resource economics in teaching and research institutions
  • Facilitate dialogue among economists, non-economists, and policy makers on environment and natural resource concerns
  • Influence the policy process through good analyses, training, and information dissemination

WWW site includes details of SANDEE research grants, full-text versions of the SANDEE newsletter and information on how to join the network.
