The union for African Population Studies (UAPS) is a scientific, panafrican, non-profit organization. The main objective of the Union is to promote the scientific study of population in Africa.
In order to reach this objective, the strategy adopted by UAPS consists of :
- encouraging collaboration among specialists of population issues in all African countries
- facilitating the conduct of studies and research on key population issues in Africa
- ensuring the broadest dissemination possible of scientific information concerning population problems in Africa, as well as their taking on board in the development strategies of African countries
- arousing interest in population issues for governments; national, regional and international organizations; scientific associations and the communities of African countries
