EDGE Europe Retreat 2025 – Interrupting Business as Usual: Admitting We Do Not Know

“admitting we don’t know as things fall apart, do we have the capacity to sustain humility?

cause we really don’t know the way out of this. we don’t know whether we’re in a slowly heating pot of water, the frying pan, the fire, the last gasp of a humanoid dinosaur age, the beginning of our liberation, the flashbacks of every apocalyptic movie ever filmed, the birth year of the four horses of the apocalypse, Octavia’s mind, the end of human civilization, a new kind of collective madness, a beautiful awakening, the early stages of the great turning. certainty may give us comfort, but right now it’s a false solution, an illusion that we put energy into which will not get us where we need to be….”

Adrienne Maree Brown

The world around us feels uncertain. Systems we once trusted are unraveling, and the future is filled with contradictions. In moments like this, grounding ourselves in shared values becomes more important than ever.

The EDGE Europe Retreat offered a pause. A chance to step away from urgency, slow down, and connect with peers who are navigating similar questions. Together, we created space to restore perspective, remember we’re not alone, and imagine courageous paths forward.

Our time together was intentionally unhurried—long meals, spacious conversations, and opportunities for rest. Rather than striving for outcomes, this retreat was about presence: letting go of performance, sitting with the unknown, and allowing new possibilities to emerge.

The agenda included open spaces shaped by participants, where members shared their work, exchanged solidarity, and renewed visions of justice that sustain us all.
