UNRWA is mandated to provide the Palestine refugees with humanitarian assistance. It provides education, health care, employment and microfinance programs, relief assistance and social services to approximately four million registered Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, the Syrian Arab Republic, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip. It is the largest UN operation in the Middle East, with over 25,000 staff, almost all of them refugees themselves, working as teachers, doctors, nurses or social workers.
The UNRWA website offers information about Palestine refugees, details of the agency’s programs, recent news articles, letters and updates on the agency’s practical activities in the field, job vacancies, and links to other sites.
