The United Nations Girls Education Initiative (UNGEI) works to ensure that by 2015, all children everywhere, boys and girls alike, will be able to complete primary schooling and that by then, boys and girls will have equal access to all levels of education.
At the country level, UNGEI supports country-led development and seeks to influence decision-making and investments to ensure gender equality in national education policies, plans and programmes. Its website features global and country-specific news and information on gender and education. It also hosts a variety of resources, including manuals, reports and toolkits, on a wide range of subjects including gender equality in education, girls’ education in emergencies, HIV/AIDS, and gender-based violence. The resources have both a global and a regional focus.
