Unirule is a non-governmental economic research centre which focuses on new institutional economics and transition economics in China. Unirule aims to promote the development of Chinese modern economics, particularly institutional economics which is related to China’s current reforms.

Research areas covered by the Institute include:

  • new institutional economics
  • enterprise reform
  • financial markets and institutions
  • transport
  • energy, agriculture and environmental protection
  • reform in governmental institutions

In addition to research, the Institute conducts an annual training program on China’s reform and new institutional economics and organizes seminars and forums on new institutional economics. The publications of the Institute include an annual publication on ‘Economics in China’ and the Unirule Working Paper series.
