This International Monetary Fund (IMF) web site provides information on statistical practices relating to foreign direct investment (FDI) adopted by the 55 countries that participated in the 2001 SIMSDI update.
The web site has two main sections:
- for each country, metadata describing data availability, data sources, compilation practices, and methodology used to compile the data. This information is organised by the four relevant datasets:
- balance of payments (transactions) data on FDI in the country
- position (stock) data on FDI in the country
- balance of payments (transactions) data on FDI abroad
- position (stock) data on FDI abroad
The description of the statistical practices for each country has been verified by the authorities of that country. The statements about whether a country’s practices are in accordance with international standards for compiling FDI data are based on the judgment of IMF staff.
