Established in 1969, the Population Institute (PI) is an international, educational, non-profit organization that seeks to reduce ‘excessive’ population growth, and strives to achieve a world population in balance with a healthy global environment and resource base. PI aims to increase awareness of the social, economic, and environmental consequences of rapid population growth. It recruits and trains activists, and national membership networks to address population issues, and promotes international and U.S. support for voluntary family planning programs.

Resources includes official newsletter, Popline, which deals exclusively with global population concerns. Website contains Popline archive and details of other publications, as well as news, jobs and information about campaigns.
