The Bank’s Participation Thematic Team promotes methods and approaches that encourage the involvement of various stakeholders, especially the poor, in development initiatives that affect them.

The website has links and resources on Participation, Poverty Reduction Strategies (PRSPs), Social and Public accountability, and Civic engagement. It also offers a series of tools and methodologies on Participatory approaches, and Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation. There are resources on participation in the World Bank approaches such as Country Assistance Strategies (CAS), and Community Driven Development (CDD).

Website includes the The Participation Sourcebook, a how-to guide written to “highlight the importance of the participatory approach in economic and social development”. Includes the involvement of the private sector, NGOs, the poor and community groups in policy dialogue and decision making for project lending. Available in print from the Bank and on their WWW. The sourcebook was produced by the WB Environment Department as part of their Participation Series: list of other titles in this series available on WWW, some are also summarised in their Dissemination Notes series.
