The challenging long-term mission of the National Agricultural Policy Center (NAPC) is to be a center of excellence in research, training, and advice for the sustainable development of Syrian agriculture.

NAPC is also promoting the establishment of a permanent policy forum to enhance dialogue on agricultural issues among stakeholders and policy makers.

The need for establishing an institution capable of carrying out economic and social research in support of agricultural policy emerged from the ongoing process of modernization of the Syrian economy and, particularly, of its agricultural sector. In fact, the Syrian economy, characterized for many decades by central planning, has witnessed an evolution in strategic thinking and policy regime towards greater reliance on markets and increased integration into the international economic system.
