The International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITCILO) was created in 1965 to promote the International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) interdisciplinary approach and build capacities of the actors from member-countries. Settled in Turin, Italy, it offers a wide range of capacity building options to those actors who are involved in designing policies that have an impact on employment and social development (Cf. the “decent work” concept). The Gender Coordination Unit coordinates gender mainstreaming efforts within the institute, echoing those made within the ILO.

The site provides a concise introduction to the ILO gender approach with links and documents to be downloaded, among which some in English and some in French, especially those from the Gender Equality Unit. It also provides a newsletter on the centre’s gender specific activities, in particular seminars. Finally, it links to two distance online training tools, with the option of partial and free participation once registered. A bi-monthly journal, ‘Genderinfo’, can also be downloaded from the website.
