The Institute belongs to SNU’s School of Economics (see separate entry) and was founded in 1961 to promote theoretical and empirical economic research and to provide policy recommendations for the development of the Korean economy. It exchanges research results with other domestic and foreign institutions, collects economics related work and economic data, and publishes two quarterly journals, The Korean Economic Journal (in Korean) and Seoul Journal of Economics (in English). It also sponsors domestic and international conferences, seminars and lectures.
