The International Indigenous Women’s Forum (FIMI) is a network of indigenous women leaders from Asia, Africa and the Americas, whose purpose is to strengthen indigenous women’s networks, increase their participation and visibility in the international arena and build capacity.

The website includes information about FIMI’s work in its four main programme areas: international advocacy and women’s political participation, human rights training and capacity building, alliance building, and funding of indigenous women’s organisations. Through these programmes the organisation tries to: ensure indigenous women are included in key human rights and development processes so that their needs and perspectives are represented; promote the institutional growth and development of member organisations through workshops and other activities; and work with the global women’s movement to encourage greater sensitivity to the cultural, racial and economic diversity among women and the incorporation of indigenous women’s views. FIMI also oversees the administration of an Indigenous Women’s Fund, which provides indigenous women with resources that will enable them to participate in different events, strengthen their leadership skills and promote their own particular systems of knowledge and values.

The site includes links to resources for those interested in indigenous women’s issues, such as: the latest opportunities including jobs and funding, international legislative documents and declarations, examples of indigenous women taking action, relevant guides and publications, and other multimedia resources.
