Himalayan Institute of Development (HID) is a non-governmental policy institute which champions the cause of democratic pluralism and market friendly economic policies in Nepal. It attempts to contribute to Nepalese policy making by providing policy relevant research. Currently, HID is concentrating on creating a national database for constructing social accounting matrices and preparing a general equilibrium model of the Nepalese economy to look at the effects of economic liberalization on income distribution and poverty.
