The good practices database is part of the UN Resources on Gender and the collection aims to serve organizations committed to implementing programmes to support gender equality and are interested in learning from the experiences of others. It has been developed to:

  • demonstrate the diverse ways that UN organizations are implementing the mandate to achieve gender equality
  • encourage replication and adaptation of good practices across regions and organizations

The good practices are aimed at three distinct sets of audiences:

  • the United Nations Resident Coordinator system
  • United Nations management and staff
  • external audiences: governments, bilateral organizations, civil society and the “general public”
  • Good practices can fall into the following broad categories:
    • the twelve critical areas of concern of the Beijing Platform for Action
    • gender mainstreaming and United Nations system institutional processes, including: training and capacity building; institutional and policy commitments
    • resource allocations

Users can search the database by keyword, project title, theme, project, country, region etc.
