The Centre on Housing Rights and Evictions (COHRE) aims to promote and protect the right to housing for everyone. It does this through a varied work programme which includes:

  • housing rights training;
  • research and publications;
  • monitoring, preventing and documenting forced evictions;
  • fact-finding missions;
  • active participation and advocacy within the United Nations and regional Human Rights bodies and activities in the South

COHRE’s work covers four thematic areas:

  • women & housing rights and housing;
  • property restitution;
  • litigation and
  • water rights
